We are already seeing many social enterprises become popular. This includes Ben and Jerry’s, an ice cream business which started a foundation around 30 years ago that distributes money in the form of grants to support grass-root organizations. It currently supports campaigns such as the criminal justice reform and LGBTQ+ rights (Ben&JerryFoundation). Another well-known enterprise is TOMS, a shoe brand based in LA. The company invests ⅓ of their profits in grassroots efforts and for every pair of shoes bought it donates a pair of shoes for a person in need (TOMSimpact). ME to WE is a social enterprise that donates over 90% of its profits to WE charity. It has positively impacted rural WE village regions around the world by creating empowering jobs in eco-travel, artisans products, and Fairtrade consumables to help decrease poverty (MEtoWE).
